Myths and Facts
While PSI can source and fill permanent, temporary and consultant positions,
the majority of our placements are for consultants. Below are some common myths
and facts about consulting. We offer these to help you decide if consulting is
right for you!
Myth: Consulting doesn't offer any medical or dental benefits.
Fact: PSI has considered you and your family's needs and built
a robust set of benefits.
• Holiday Pay (Consultants receive 1 paid day after every 6 months of service)
• Bi-Weekly Pay Day
• Direct Deposit, Access Card Option
• Medical Insurance (company contributes 50% of employee-only HMO premium)
• Dental Insurance (company contributes 50% of employee-only premium)
• Life and ADD Insurance $50,000 (company pays premium for employee)
• Short- and Long-Term Disability (company pays premium for employee)
• COBRA
• Premium-Only Plan
• Employee Assistance Plan
• 401(k) with Company Match and Profit Sharing
Myth: Tax reporting can
be difficult if you are a consultant.
Fact: PSI offers W-2
status to its consultants, so they are treated equally
in the tax reporting and filing process as any other employee of the
company.
Myth: Consultants don't get time off.
Fact: While it's true
that consultants don't get paid for their time off, most
consultants find that they can take the same or more time
off for personal reasons or vacation. Because the hourly rate is often
higher than a regular, full-time position, consultants have more financial
reserves and can work with their management at the client site to comfortably
afford to take time off. As long as work commitments and
deliverables are managed, taking time off is not usually an issue.
Myth: Isn't there a lot of downtime between assignments?
Fact: Timing is everything when it comes to having an open position and the
right person available to fill it. PSI has undertaken aggressive business
development activities to strive to move you between clients and assignments
with minimal downtime. We can also offer you a salary if you prefer,
which will include paying you while you are 'on the bench'.
